When you’re scouring the internet and searching website after website, looking for potential job candidates, it can be frustrating not to find an email address for people. Communication is key in the recruiting business and email is the first way to get your foot in the door with people. Or, you may have a list of email addresses but you’re not sure if they are even valid. Before you waste your time emailing your list, try these helpful recruiting tools.

Finding Candidates & Emails

If you’re looking for a candidate or only have a person’s name and you’re interested in obtaining their email address and other contact and personal information, there are a couple of tools you can use to help you search.

1. Hunter – A robust tool that helps you find and verify professional email addresses all in one place. You can try it out here.

There are a few ways to look up emails. One way is to use the Email Finder where you type in the person’s full name and the company domain where they work.

Once the email is found, you can save it to your leads or email the person.

Hunter also shows you where they found the email address on the web. Just click on the URL and it will take you to the page and highlight the email in yellow.

You can also look up emails associated with a company using the Domain Search. Just simply type in the company’s domain name and it will pull all email addresses it can find on the web connected to that company. Again, you can save people to your leads list, email them, and review the sources where the address was pulled.

Hunter has a free Chrome extension here. With this resource, you can go to any website and click on the icon to see the email addresses associated with that company.

When you’re ready to verify email addresses, just go to the Verifier tab and add each one.

And then it will let you know if the email is valid or not.

After you’ve found a candidate and verified their email, now you can add them to your Leads and they will appear on your dashboard. This is a great way to keep track of all your leads and you can export them to a CSV file or start sending them email communications once you connect your email account.

When you click on each person’s name, you’ll see their profile and can edit as you find more information about them and add any notes.

This is a free tool where you get 100 requests per month and then it resets. There are a lot of features you can use with the free version, but they also have paid plans, ranging from $49 per month up to $400 per month, depending on your needs.

2. Spokeo – A tool that allows you to look up people based on their name, email address, phone number, or physical address. You can learn more about it here.

According to their website, “Spokeo is a people search engine that organizes white pages listings, public records and social network information into simple profiles to help you safely find and learn about people.”

This is not a free tool, however, you must sign up for one of their plans in order to review your results. You can choose between a 1-month subscription for $14 per month, or a 3-month subscription for $8 per month.

Verifying Emails

Once you find an email or create a list of emails, you may want to verify the address(es) to see if it’s an actual email account. Here are a few email verifying tools you can use to help with this process.

1. Email Checker – A free tool that’s very easy to use. Just type in the email address you want to verify and hit “Check.” In a matter of seconds, you’ll find out if the email is real or not. Check it out here.

“It extracts the MX records from the email address and connects to mail server (over SMTP and also simulates sending a message) to make sure the mailbox really exist for that user/address.”

You can get the Chrome app for free here.

You can also generate an email signature for free to use at the bottom of all your emails.

They also offer a bulk email checker that allows you to upload lists of emails and they filter out the good emails from the bad ones. This is a paid feature where you only pay for the emails that you verify. Plans start at a one-time payment of $15 and go up.

2. VerifyEmailAddress – Another free email verifying tool you can use to verify email addresses to see if they exist or not. You can try it here.

Then it will let you know if the email is verified. You can “View Email Owner” and it takes you to another website called Info Tracer where you can purchase a report on the person for $5.

This site also has a bulk verifying tool where you can upload your lists of email addresses and batch verify emails. This is a paid feature that starts at $25 for 3,000 emails and goes up from there.

3. Verifalia – Another free email verifying resource where you just type in a person’s email address to get a report on their email address.

Then, it will let you know if the email is valid or not and give you a short report.

Verifalia also has paid monthly plans for daily users that range from $10 a month to $550 a month. In addition, you can clean up your email lists by uploading them, getting the addresses verified, then downloading the results. These are based on credits and start at $4.
